Woody Fincham, SRA
Woody has an extensive background in residential valuation. He was a longterm resident of Hampton Roads, VA. He grew up in Chesapeake, in the borough of South Norfolk. He played in various sports leagues including soccer, basketball and football. He graduated from Oscar F. Smith high school.
He is married to his wonderful wife, Laurie. Has three children: teenager Woody, JR, and twins: Zach and Melissa. They reside in Newport News currently.
Woody attended and graduated from the Norfolk Campus of Johnson & Wales University. He founded and ran a very successful residential appraisal company in Virginia Beach during 2004; selling the business at the end of 2008. He most recently graduated from ECPI UNiversity with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administartion. At the beginning of 2009 he moved for an annual mentorship with David Braun, MAI, SRA in Maryville, TN. During this time he studied with a respected expert in the valuation industry. This is not a typical step in most appraisal careers, but one that has paid off in many ways, most of all, in experience.
At the end of 2009, Woody returned to Hampton Roads to take a position with the Real Estate Assessor's Office in Newport News, VA. While the majority of his time is spent working within this position, he still does private appraisal work and select mortgage lending work.
Woody left the Assessor's in Newport News to take a position as the Deputy asessor in Suffolk, VA. He currently is the Assistant Assessor in Albemarle County, VA.
At the beginning of 2011, he was awarded the prestigious SRA designation from the Appraisal Institute. This is the premier residential designation for appraisers in the United States.
